Live It, Don’t Preach It

Have you heard the saying the best sermons are lived, not preached? I was pondering this quote tonight and felt lead to share some of my thoughts with you. As a mother of a 3 year old…I desire greatly that my child knows and reflects the love of Christ. I sometimes get concerned that maybe I am not nurturing Shia’s spiritual growth enough…like praying enough with him or exposing him to God’s promises enough. I began to feel the burden begin to form within my heart this evening and I remembered this quote and it stood out in my mind in a powerful way.  I felt the Spirit impress upon my heart that the greatest thing I can give my little boy is a home that truly reflects the peace joy and love of Christ. It is not a daily task of forced spiritual chores aka reading scriptures, praying, etc and constant preaching that leads Shia to Christ…the greater impact on his spiritual walk will come when Shia sees the reflection of Christ’s love lived out in mine and Tim’s home, our marriage and in our individual lives. We lead our children to Christ more by are example…our words and actions in our daily lives.  What do your children see when they look at you?  How is the energy of the home you are raising them in?  I encourage you to read my book Living Still if you need help reflecting God’s love in your home, your marriage and in your life and as always Be Love Give Love.
