God Is Love

be love give love

One day I was deeply confused about some things, so I took time out for a walk in nature. As I was walking around enjoying the beauty all around me, I asked God to reveal Himself to me. I began talking to Him and told Him I wanted to see Him. I just needed to experience Him in a tangible way.

As I continued to walk around, I had a sudden urge to use the restroom. As I changed directions and headed toward the restroom, I came across a tiny plastic heart with the word “love” inscribed on it. As I picked it up and put it in my pocket, God spoke to my heart: “Don’t try to understand so much; just love. Love me, and let my love flow through you to others. It really is that simple, my daughter.”

It was the first time He spoke to me about how simple His message really is. I had been confused and contemplating spiritual things all day, and all He wanted me to do was to love Him and love others. God spoke to me through a little plastic heart, but what the heart represented was the greatest gift of all, His love.

I carry that plastic heart with me in my planner everywhere I go. Since that time, I have found many little hearts on the ground. I always pick them up, smile at God, and remember the simple message of love He spoke to me that day.
