15 Reasons to Be Still in the Silence

Be Still and Know that I am God

When do you have time for silence…for stillness…to hear the still small voice of God? From the time you wake up till the time you fall asleep rarely are you not imputing noise and stimulation in your mind some way some how.  Are you uncomfortable with the place God truly lives? Are you bored in this place…the silence…the presence of God? Are you afraid of God’s still small voice?  Great wisdom and revelation are discovered in the stillness…the quiet.  Great healing takes place in the silence. In the presence of God you have absolutely everything you need. Why aren’t you choosing to be still….to know that He is God?

Satan doesn’t want any of us in God’s presence. He knows:

  • tremendous growth
  • powerful breakthroughs
  • beautiful healing
  • comfort and love
  • peace of mind
  • guidance and direction
  • wisdom and revelation
  • freedom and deliverance
  • understanding and clarity
  • strength and courage
  • financial breakthroughs
  • relationships healed and restored
  • forgiveness
  • unspeakable joy
  • and so much more will take place

Satan will use every distraction to keep us from this powerful place. He will convince us that it is no big deal to not seek after this place with God.  Look at all you are truly missing.  God has so many abundant blessings just wanting for you, if only you would be still…in the silence…long enough to listen to His still small voice and receive them.

Think about it.  How many of these apply to you.  You shower with music on, you do any sort of work at home with music or TV on, you eat with the TV on, you drive with music on, you go to the bathroom with your iPhone, you wake up and seek after your iPhone, laptop, iPad or the TV, you fall asleep with your iPhone, and when you have free time you watch TV or get on some other electronic device. You leave very little or no time at all for any silence, to truly hear the still small voice of God…to truly be still with God the Father…to embrace Him fully without any of the distractions.

Jesus went to the mountain to be with the Father.  We are to follow His example in every way, not in just the ways we want to or the ones that are easy and comfortable to us.  When was the last time you went to the mountain to be with the Father…without any distraction….in complete silence and stillness?  Giving God 5 minutes here and there is a start but when you sit and bathe in His presence, in the silence, in the stillness, away from all the distractions, then you will truly experience Him on a whole new level.

We need to find God and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  Mother Teresa

Let us be silent, that we may hear the whispers of God.  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always.  1 Chronicles 16:11

Be still and know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10

May I suggest my book Living Still.  I believe that I was called to write it, to teach, inspire and encourage others to come to this powerful place of stillness, silence, rest, quiet….the presence of God.  The Lord is saying come….will you respond?
